The Chevrolet Silverado is a full-sized pickup truck. There are six basic trim levels: Work Truck, LS, LS2, LT1, LT2 and LT3 that come in Regular, extended- and crew-cab body styles. All models come in a two- or four-wheel drive.
Five engine choices are available:
195-horsepower, 4.3-liter V6;
285-hp, 4.8L V8;
295-hp, 5.3L V8;
310-hp, 5.3L V8; towing capacity is 9,100 pounds
345-hp, 6.0L V8; towing capacity is up to 10,000 pounds.
Braking is adequate, fit and finish is unimpressive. The powertrain isn't as smooth as in the competing Toyota or Nissan. The optional four-wheel drive is a plus. Extended-cab versions have a usable rear seat.
Excellent truck for light hauling, does the job as intended, drives well and has a comfortable ride, the interior is roomy enough for a family of four and all their belongings, yet small enough to fit comfortably in a regular garage, the price is very affordable. | | | Chevrolet Silverado Strengths One of the best fuel economy in its class, cargo capacity, XM satellite radio option, roomy interior, quietness, strong V8 engines, innovative features, full-time four-wheel-drive system. | |
| | Chevrolet Silverado Weaknesses Weak V6 engine, dithering transmission, uncomfotable seats, low-grade interior materials, dashboard tasteless design, the competitors are more refined, inconsistent build quality, turning circle. |
